James Morris justice of the peace records, 1794-1814.

Bound book of records reflecting Morris's work as justice of the peace in Litchfield County; together with folder of small notes and letters found in the front cover of the book. The book begins with an index which alphabetically sorts cases by names of the parties involved, giving case number and the decision. The rest of the book is organized by case number. Usually the pages are organized into three entries and each entry has the same number, but the cases and dates are different. The entries give the names of the parties involved, a brief description of the case, and the outcome. The book appears to be entirely about settling disputes about debts.
